Being a controversy

Being a controversy

Controversy

I am a shocker. I like to create controversy. It's my trademark.

Brenda Fassie - Singer

There are people who choose to be comfortable and convenient. Then, there are people who choose challenges and controversies. Life is easy when you choose the comfortable and convenient path. Life seems almost impossible when you choose the challenge and controversy path. Just being yourself can make you a controversy!

Oppression, resistance and controversy

It’s actually not the controversy that makes you stronger but the strength you have that makes you controversial. Even the meek will be made assertive. This strength comes from the oppression from the people around you. The resistance from the people who had always shouted “you can not do this”, “you should not do this” or even “I won’t let you do this” will strengthen you and make you who are now.

Controversy and loneliness

When you find yourself being controversial, you are obviously becoming lonely. You have great ideas, great values in life and no one to bother about. This is exactly where you are tried and tested for your controversies. Unfortunately, there is no turning back as you know what you stand for and you also know what if you give up what you stand for. A tough choice between staying lonely in what you stand for and being carried on the direction of the stream!

Controversial people do exist

If you are controversial and feel like the only one in the world, no! There are controversial people and they do exist. To name a few,

  • Former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton was mostly surrounded by controversy once emails began to surface.
  • The president of the United States, Donald Trump, didn’t run for office without controversy.
  • Madonna, who continued her career for 34 years in the face of blatant sexism and misogyny and constant bullying and relentless abuse, was honored as Woman of the Year at Billboard’s Women In Music 2016.
  • Karl Marx, Galileo Galilei, Charles Darwin, Diana, Princess of Wales are a few more names to the list.

The bottom line is, no matter what, just be yourself!
